Turning a Regulatory Scare into a Success Story for a Leading Chemicals Distributor

Turning a Regulatory Scare into a Success Story for a Leading Chemicals Distributor

When companies undergo inspections by PHMSA, the outcomes can carry significant weight. Even when operations are conducted with care, inspectors may raise questions or issue findings that create immediate uncertainty. This was the case for a leading chemical distributor who received allegations of closure instruction violations during an exit briefing. The company was unsure how to respond, whether the claims were supported by regulation, or how to appropriately engage with the investigator.

Testimonials

Our company needed to make an urgent shipment of prototype lithium batteries internationally to a customer. The HSC team was able to assist us and expedite the shipment using an existing approval.  They provided training for our employees and assisted us in every step of the process. As a result, our shipment arrived safely and on time.

Our company distributes medical devices powered by lithium batteries. We had a need to ship replacement batteries by air fully charged (100% State of Charge) to periodically support urgent needs.  The air transport regulations limit batteries shipments to 30% SOC.  HSC worked with us to acquire an approval from the US DOT and to identify packaging that provides a significant level of safety.  HSC developed operating procedures and conducted training consistent with the approval and also assisted us with successfully completing a fitness audit conducted by FAA inspectors.  As a result, we now air able to ship replacement batteries safely and compliantly by air to meet urgent patient needs.
